Charity Dodge Ball Weekend

Sunday our company team played in the http://www.dodgeforacause.com/ Dodgeball tournament. It was a lot of fun, and our first time playing so we fit our team name quite well: Target Practice

Theresa and I took Benjamin along, and he had a great time!!! He thought it was really funny when your's truly, a.k.a. Dad, took a dodgeball to the face LOL. It's really great having the new ramp/walkway/railing at the house and the wheel chair lift on the SUV. I'm going to try and get some photos up here soon.

That's it for now, but have a lot more to write about so hopefully I'll have more posted soon.

Cheers,

Weekend Update

This past weekend was a busy one to be sure. We moved our son into his first place, sharing a house with a couple other room mates (actual one of his new room mates really helped him get moved. Great guy!). He's starting his 3rd semester in college working on a BS in CIS. His Mom and I are both excited, and worried for him naturally. Overall though it feels right, and we believe it will be a great experience for him. Even though he's not my Bio Son, I certainly consider him to be 100% my Son with his Mom. It still makes me feel good when he calls me "Dad"!

I'm participating in the MS Windows Home Server (WHS) Beta 2 program, and overall I like what I am seeing. I really need to get some time in this week submitting a few issues I've encountered, and provide some computer specific steps I worked through that were needed to get WHS working.

Tons of work to do this week, and getting used to one of our son's being "out of the nest" as it were.

Be well,

Finally - Someting goes up here!

A quick bit about myself before the infrequent rant entries begin

Married to an awesome lady with two great Sons. One is finishing his 2nd semester towards his BS in Comp-Sci. Our other son is quadripligic, mentally retarded (not much on PC - never could figure out what was so correct about Politics anyway!) and has managed to out live by decades, all Dr's expectations (See above mentioned "awesome lady") because his Mom advocated day and night to fight to keep him alive, and thriving for just over 21 years now. He's a very happy and funny kid, loves Scooby and "Cars" stuff now as well; He keeps us laughing all the time, and is really big on hugs. We are working on adopting a daughter, hopefully somewhere between 8 and 12, however when the right circumstances come along, age etc. really aren't the important factors.

I've been writing software (mostly DB RAD for the past decade) since before I finished college for an EE degree back in 1987. Really wish I'd have kept up on writing C software, however DB coding paid the bills, and C was relegated to my off hours. C# is what I'm really digging into these days, but I have legacy VB5/6/.NET code to update, modify etc. every week. I live in the MS world, and have hosted and coded on my own *Nix boxes for years also (no expert there, but where my security knowledge really came from). I work for an MS Gold Partner as a Technical Specialist, modifying, customizing the Business/Financial MS software we resale. I love what I do, and the people I work with!

Enough for now, too much work to do.

Cheers,
